DVD printing error: short names for Windows users

Unfortunately the Blend&Paint and Blenderella have been created with a filesystem that works fine for OS X and Linux, but that gives short file names in Windows. You can still watch the video files in Windows fine, but only via Windows Explorer, not using the html interface.

What went wrong:
We were very happy finding a new DVD printer who accepted to download ISO files too. That speeds up the procedure to get fast printed DVDs here. These ISOs were tested here in the studio, also burned using Linux on a test disc. All worked fine! The printer then burned this ISO using a Windows system, and to our surprise it then only gives short "8.3" names when reading the DVD with Windows. This was totally unexpected, and we still don't understand why or how... crazy OS stuff!

We are making fixed HTML zip downloads for everyone now. Just extract the zip, click on the index.html inside, indicate the drive letter where the DVD is, and all works OK. These zip downloads will be made available on the www.blender.org shop product pages too.

Blend & Paint fix is ready:

Sorry for the inconvenience! We are getting a reprint of DVDs soon here. I hope the html fix will be a satisfying patch for you to use the DVDs. If you really prefer to get a good DVD copy instead, just send the Blender e-shop a reply on your 'payment accepted' email, or a mail with your order number and we'll ship another copy free of charge.

Thanks,

-Ton-
